10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week (Vol. 19)

This has been one of the better weeks I've had in a while.  I finally feel as if I'm emerging from this winter funk that's been hanging over me since early January. It really became quite apparent to me when I started compiling this list and didn't struggle to come up with 10 things as I have in previous weeks.  Yes, folks, I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Without further ado, here are 10 things that made me happy this week.

1) That Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar.  It was quite obvious how happy (and maybe even relieved) he was.  I can't help but be happy for him.

2) Watching Kate Winslet's emotional reaction to Leo's Best Actor win.  That's friendship right there, folks.

3) This Google Doodle on Monday:

4) A good checkup at the dentist!  No cavities or needed procedures = a happy wallet = a happy me!

5) I noticed this week that it's getting lighter earlier in the mornings.  Commuting in the early dawn light has been nice and I feel more awake when I get to work. Granted, this will be short lived because we change to Daylight Saving Time in 2 weeks...  Ugh.  That's when I'll return to driving to work in the dark again.  I will enjoy it while I can!

6) My monthly dinner with my former carpool buddies.  I'm very thankful that we continue to nourish the friendship we forged many years ago during our shared commute to and from work.

7) The very supportive and encouraging comments that I received this week in response to my post, A Letter to Cheryl Tiegs.  I'm typically a pretty even keeled gal and an upbeat blogger, but I truly felt as if I had to address the issue that was weighing so heavily on my mind.  Anyway, I was a bit apprehensive about sending my thoughts out into the blogosphere.  Learning that I was not the only one feeling a bit perturbed with Ms. Tiegs made me feel much better.

8) I learned Thursday morning that I was chosen as the Friday Reflections Featured Writer for the week with my piece on Cheryl Tiegs.  I am very, very honored.

9) Dinner out with two of my "sisters of the heart" to celebrate JG's birthday.

10) This:

Hoping this finds you well and having a wonderful day!  Have a great weekend! As always, thanks for stopping by!

  1. I was very happy for Leo's win, too, and it was so sweet to see how supportive Kate has been of his career. Happy Friday to you, PS: I love that "If a republican wins," meme--yes to more travel. Always :) Happy weekend!

  4. 1. I really don't get this one. In general, not just you. He's always been the pretty boy that the ladies swoon over, hasn't he? Great for ticket sales, but not necessarily Oscar material.

    2. Who among us hasn't enjoyed watching Kate Winslet?

    4. Very jealous.

    1. That's interesting, for I've never really considered him a "pretty boy." But, then, I have a tendency to have crushes on celebrities with long hair, which he has never really sported. I have enjoyed his acting in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Gatsby, The Aviator, Catch Me if You Can, Blood Diamond, and The Gangs of New York. Although I didn't care for The Revenant as a movie, but I thought his acting in it was quite remarkable But, that's just my two cents.

    1. I should have elaborated on that a little more. I have been blessed with the friendship of three colleagues, two of whom are my mother's age. Our friendship is very unique given how different we all are, but we have two common denominators - we work in the field of special education and none of us have sisters. So, we are sisters of the heart.
