R is for Randomness

When I searched for an image to go with the word RANDOMNESS, one of the first hits was of a ROULETTE wheel.

I’m currently READING Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I was leary of READING this book because it is overwhelming loved by the masses. Before that, I READ Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde. I don’t read books of that genre very often, but every once in a while I get the hankering for a book that allows me to live vicariously on the wild side. The next book in the cue is My Sister’s Grave. Once I finish it, I will have completed the bonus round of Erin’s Book Challenge 4.0.

I REGRET that I didn’t take Spanish in high school. Instead, I took RUSSIAN, yes - you read that correctly - RUSSIAN. I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time. I just chalk it up to teenage stupidity. I wish I could go back in time and tell my 16 year old self, “RUSSIAN? Are you serious? Get real! How practical is that going to be? Take Spanish, my friend. Trust me, it will come in handy one day when you work in a community with a large Spanish speaking population. Quit trying to be so much of a non-conformist.”

Yesterday was the 43rd birthday of a man whom I was very close with during my freshman year of college. I haven’t seen him in over twenty years, but I never fail to REMEMBER his birthday. Last night my mind was flooded with memories, especially of us playing RACQUETBALL and sitting slumped in a corner of the RACQUETBALL court talking after our games. Lots of fond memories there.

I don’t believe in REINCARNATION, but if I did, I would like to be a snowboarder in my next life. Snowboarders truly amaze me.

Lastly, for some strange reason, I’ve had the RATT song ROUND AND ROUND stuck in my brain for the past 3 or 4 days. I’m not sure where I picked it or what triggered it, but it’s been a persistent booger of an ear worm ever since.

What book are you READING right now? Have any REGRETS you can to share? Are you suffering from any earworms at the moment?  Feel free to share something RANDOM.  As always, thanks for stopping by!

  1. You could have a lot worse songs as an ear worm, my friend :)
I took a lot of Spanish...4 years in high school, 6 semesters in college. Can I speak it? No. My regret? That semester abroad that my stepmother wanted to pay for in a Spanish-speaking country? I should've gone.
Ooooh...so close to the end. I've come to the realization that I won't finish the bonus round, and I'm okay with that. I'm thrilled with all the challengers!
What am I reading now? People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (it's on my Aussie Author Challenge list)

    1. Very true, there are by far and away worse earworms! This one is very tolerable. Oh, yes, a semester abroad would have been such an awesome experience. Another little regret I have is that I didn't pursue any solo travel before I got married. But, I really didn't have many opportunities either, given that I was in college for almost 8 years and didn't have much money when I first started working. Ah, well... live and learn, right?

  2. Paul Simon's My Little Town is my ear worm.

    Currently reading Circling the Sun.

    Snowboarders are amazing.

    1. I had to YouTube My Little Town. I was not familiar with it. I sometimes get Kodachrome stuck in my head. It's a persistent and recurring ear worm for me.

  3. I tried reading The Gambler and couldn't even finish it. So boring.

Dostoevsky's Last Night, however, by Cristina Peri ROSSI, is a good read.

  4. The fourth book in Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Boys Cycle is about to come out (or maybe already has). I'm on the waiting list at the library. So, in anticipation of this event I reread the first three books again. That means I've read the first one something like four times, the second one three times, and the third one two times (since I do this little dance each time a new book comes out). Anyway, I just finished the third one Blue Lily, Lily Blue yesterday.

Regret. I'm really trying very hard to be better at letting things go. Regret is one of those feelings that can weigh you down and keep you stuck. I'm really tired of being stuck.
