West Virginia, my beloved home state, was hit by devastating floods last week. Many homes, businesses, schools, churches, and entire communities were completely inundated with rapidly rising water. Many structures, from homes to roads, were completely washed away by the flash flooding. West Virginians are strong, resilient people who rise up in the face of adversity. But, even the strongest folks could use some prayers from time to time. I ask that you remember the flood victims who have lost their homes, their livelihoods, their belongings, and especially those who have lost loved ones.  I sincerely thank you.

If you're interested, fellow West Virginia native and country music star Brad Paisley, has established a GoFundMe account in which the donations will be distributed for flood relief through his charity, The Brad Paisley Foundation.  For more information, you can read about it in this article on The Tennessean website, on Brad Paisley's Facebook page, and/or on the GoFundMe page he launched on Wednesday June 29, 2016.  #wvrising (photo via)

  1. You've already read so much for this challenge! That's so awesome! Pretty Girls has been on my list for so long, so that makes me happy that you loved it so much!

    1. I haven't written my review for Pretty Girls yet, but here is what I said about it on Goodreads:

"This book was one of the most gripping thriller mysteries that I've ever read. I didn't see the two big "what the hell" moments coming and I consider that an impressive feat. I must also say that Pretty Girls is probably the most disturbing book that I've ever read. This is a book that is definitely not for the faint of heart. It involves very horrendous descriptions of very, violent unimaginable acts. Consider yourself warned."

I liked it, but it had some very vile, disturbing parts. Just a little public service announcement. :)

  2. You listen to a lot of audiobooks.

I don't do reading challenges. Except my 100 books in a year challenge on Goodreads.

I will, however, be sponsoring challenges. I expect everybody except myself to participate, and then to write emotionally-charged memoirs about how my reading challenges changed their lives.

    1. Yes, I do. I rarely watch TV, so I utilize audiobooks for entertainment. I like the versatility of audiobooks. I can listen to them in the car, while I'm doing housework, etc. I started listening to audiobooks due to my commute. Over time, it's become my preferred method of books.
