Currently... (Vol. 14)

Counting...  down the days until I see my BFF next Friday.  We are long overdue for a girls weekend and proper catch-up.

Buying...  Fisher Price Little People toys.  Since I've acquired the preschool classes at my school permanently for the remainder of the school year, I need some toys for therapy.

Dreading...  the darkness that I'll be back to commuting in once the time changes next weekend.  I'm going to relish the next 6 workdays of being able to arrive at work in the light.

Anxiously awaiting...  spring break.  I'm in desperate need of a West Virginia fix. The mountains are calling and I must go.

Wearing...  work shirts that are waaayyy too big for me now that I've lost 36 lbs! The frugal, non-enthusiastic shopper in me is trying to get as much wear out of them as I can.

Reading (well, listening to)...  the audiobook The Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley.

Adjusting...  to the constant weather boomerang we're experiencing here in Kentucky.  Last week, one day it reached 80 degrees  and I wore one pair of ill-fitting, too big shorts with a belt; the next day, I had to don a base layer, a fleece mid-layer, and a coat for my walk.

Disbelieving...  that it's already March.  Not that I'm complaining.  I'm really ready for spring.

Eating...  out way too much lately.  I was at an out of town conference 2 1/2 days last week, so I was at the mercy of eating what was close to the conference center.  Last night was my monthly "carpool dinner" with the girls and this evening is a birthday celebration for two of my close friends from work.

Accepting...  that in about a week, I'll be a March Madness Widow once again.  Sigh.

Contemplating...  buying a kayak and joining a group of coworkers who kayak regularly during the warmer months.

Shopping...  for shorts.  Last week, when the temperatures here in Kentucky reached the 70s and low 80s, so I decided to break out some shorts.  The first pair I put on literally fell off my hips once they were buttoned.  The second pair did the same.  The third pair were easily tugged off with little effort.  The fourth pair - ditto.  This continued until I tried on all 10 pairs that I own.  As of this writing, I have zero shorts, other than athletic shorts, that fit.  This is the first time in my life this has ever happened.  It's a weird feeling.

Preparing...  to work on 3rd term report cards. I have 50 to complete by St. Patrick's Day.

Surprised...  that I picked the correct winners of 6/8 Oscar categories (for E Man's Oscar challenge).

Watching...  Oscar nominated movies.  So far I've seen Hidden Figures, Arrival, Moonlight, and La La Land.

Wishing...  two people who have birthdays in March a very happy and blessed birthday.  You may have forgotten mine, but I cannot forget yours.

What have you been up to lately?

  1. Our clocks don't go forward until the end of March - I'm hoping it will be lighter then so I'm not back to finishing work in the dark all over again!

    1. This upcoming time change absolutely rocks my world in the worst way. I will feel like I just got off a plane from Australia for 2 weeks afterwards.

  2. I wasn't thrilled about Arrival...even though I such high hopes for it:(

    1. I didn't really care for it either. Hallelujah my husband and I watched it for free on the Amazon Firestick.

  3. Wow! Congratulations on 36 pounds lost! That is awesome. I love it when I pull on a pair of pants and they fall right past my hips! While my weight loss is going a bit slower than I'd like (and is completely my own fault), I am really frugal when it comes to buying new duds too. It's like you have that end goal and need some new clothes to get you there, but you don't want to spend a fortune on hopefully short-term clothes. But you also don't want your clothes to fall off in public either. Awesome at home. Not so great at Target. Or work! I have a friend who kayaks and loves it.

    1. Thank you! It was quite a surprise, a very pleasant surprise, but a surprise none-the-less. Sometimes it's not until those moments in which you can fully grasp how much weight you've lost. That's exactly where I'm at - I have an idea of where I want to go as far as a weight loss goal and I don't wish to spend much money on clothes to wear in the interim.

    1. Yes, it's been almost bipolar! I keep a parka, a midweight jacket, and a light weight jacket in my car at all times! LOL!

  6. thirty-six pounds? that's WONDERFUL news! and none of your shorts fit... were falling off, in fact. that's got to make you feel GOOD. :] congratulations.

    1. Speech Pathology conference... meh. I hate them, but I have to attend them. Just one of those things, ya know?

Yes, 36 lbs! Thank you! Yes, the entire experience of all my shorts falling off was quite a bit of a shock for I honestly didn't realize how small (relatively speaking) I've become. You live with yourself and your body day in and day out and you just grow accustomed to your size. It's moments like that that really slap you in the face and make you realize what changes have occurred. Thanks once again!

  7. Having no shorts to wear must have been a boost to continue with the dieting. Eating out or away from home can be tricky but I'm sure you've got it covered 😀

    1. It was a bit of a shock, to say the least. In fact, the entire experience was somewhat surreal. I kept looking over at the pile of shorts thinking, "How can it be that none of them fit?" LOL! None-the-less, it was a wonderful non-scale victory.
