Currently... (Vol. 27)

Happy...  that the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, which has long been a source of contention in my house, is over.  It's nice not to be a March Madness Widow any longer.

Enjoying...  my spring break!  It's been fabulous!

Elated...  that my long time, most favorite band in the whole wide world, Bon Jovi, is being inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame next weekend!

Walking...  13 miles today.  This is the longest distance I'll walk before the KDF Mini Marathon on the 28th.  After today, in terms of training, it's all downhill from here!

Looking...  forward to seeing Pretty Woman the Musical and Get on Your Feet in Chicago!

Not...  participating the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge as I have the previous two years.

Loving...  the audiobook Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman.

Beginning...  to re-listen to the audiobook Ready Player One (before I see the movie).

Finished... with Erin's book challenge!!!  (See below)

Completing...  the third day of the Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge.  (See below)

Disbelieving...  that once I go back to work next week, I only have 34 days left in the school year!

Shopping...  for hiking poles and a lightweight hiking backpack.  (Any hikers out there with recommendations?)

Proud...  of my fellow educators who stormed our state's capital on Monday to advocate for public school funding as well as funding for other public services such as fire departments and police.

Concerned...  about the possibility of future work stoppages and for what the future holds for education and educators in this country.

March in a snapshot:
1) View in my mirror one morning, my new walking shoes, last sunrise before daylight saving time.
2) Representing my alma mater, my busted bracket, snow on the first day of spring.
3) A rainy March for Our Lives in Louisville, Twin Falls State Park (WV), hiking the Endless Wall Trail (WV).

What have you been up to lately?

Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge

Bev from Confuzzledom nominated me to participate in this challenge last week. I will gladly play along by adding the quotes to the bottom of the three posts I have scheduled for this week; I just won't nominate anyone.  Here is my quote for today (Day 3):

    1. I can see where it would be hard if you were not in a proper mindset to read it. I do remember zoning out during some of the parts that were about all the different gaming systems and games of the 80s because I wasn't familiar with them and they held no real meaning for me. I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie.

  4. I'm proud of teachers out there demanding better pay around the country but really pissed that they have to.

I'm glad you've had an enjoyable spring break!

    1. I agree. Here in KY, we're not fighting for better pay, though. We're fighting to keep our pensions and opposing drastic school budget cuts. They want us to shape and educate tomorrow's workforce and leaders, but they do not want to give us the resources to do it. I, personally, just want the pension that I was promised 18 years ago, the pension that I've been faithfully paying into for two decades. This bait and switch just boils my blood.

    1. I would definitely recommend Britt-Marie. Of the four Backman books I've read, My Grandmother... was my least favorite.

Well, I survived my 13 mile walk today so I'm as read for the Mini as I'm going to get. Good luck to you!

  6. Marshall did quite well in the tournament.

I'm surprised you aren't going to the induction.

Pretty Woman seems like it might lend itself well to a musical adaptation. There's no big action scene or special effects. The story has an element of My Fair Lady (Pygmalion) to it.

    1. Yes, they did. I'm quite proud of how well they did. I thought about trying to get tix to the induction, but figured they would be too costly, so I didn't give it much thought after that. I'll watch the ceremony on HBO later this month. I think Pretty Woman will be fun. I'm curious to see what songs they use.

  7. Ericka,

You walked 13 miles? Tell me you did that on your treadmill. :) How long does it take you to walk that distance? I'm impressed ever how you did or ever how long it took. Way to go! This year is getting away from us for us for sure. I am doing the A2Z Challenge and am enjoying it. My theme this year is iPad art sketching. I reconnected with my passion for drawing last year and have been busy most days since then doodling designs. :) Have a good weekend and I'll see ya around the cyber block!

    1. Yes, I did - 13 miles exactly. No, I didn't use a treadmill; I walked the entire distance outside at my local park. It took me about 3 1/2 hours. Thank you! (Confession: if I wasn't getting ready for a half marathon, I wouldn't walk more than 6 miles.)

Continued good luck with the A2Z Challenge!

  8. I really liked reading Ready Player One, but the movie doesn't look right to me. I'll still probably go see it though :)

    1. Once I finish the audiobook (again), I'll go see it in the theater. I don't expect it to be anything like the book, but I'm interested to see what Speilberg does with it.
