Currently... (Vol. 9)

Counting...  down the days until Fall Break!  (6 school days not including today if you're curious.)

Losing...  more weight.  As of Saturday (October 1), I've lost a grand total of 17 lbs. and I've tightened up my belt again! YAY!

At the beginning of August, I had to use the last hole.  Around the end of August/beginning of September, I took my belt up another notch.  Last week, I tightened it up again.

Eating...  lots of salads in jars and honey crisp apples!

Listening...  to the audiobook Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben.

Reflecting...  on the bittersweet lyrics from the song "For Good" from the musical Wicked.

I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

(And for what's it's worth, I know I have been changed for the better.  Thank you, K.)

Looking...  forward to seeing the patchwork quilt-like foliage in the mountains of West Virginia. I haven't seen it since 2013 and I must admit, I've missed it.

Getting... used to the iOS changes that came with the latest update, specifically the pressing of the home button to unlock my phone when I've been swiping from left to right to unlock it for FIVE years! So many old sayings are running through my mind right now like the one about old habits and the one about fixing what's not broken...

Feeling...  confused by the rash of creepy clown sightings that are happening all over the east coast.  Supposedly, there was a creepy clown arrested in my hometown!  What in the world is going on?  Seriously, these folks need to get themselves jobs or something.

Listening...  to the album Better Than Home by Beth Hart.

Highly anticipating...  a ziplining excursion in West Virginia during my fall break. I'm SO excited!

Celebrating... my completion of Book Challenge by Erin 5.0!  Yee-ha!  Due to weird life circumstances, my reading has been off-kilter the past two months and it's taken me longer than  normal to complete the ten categories.  I've opted not to participate in the bonus round.  There's only one month left in the challenge and, as much as I love reading challenges, I really just think I need a break.

Watching...  Shameless on Showtime.  Oh, how I've missed the dysfunctional Gallaghers from Chi-town!

Navigating...  this crazy thing called a midlife crisis.  I've never doubted the existence of them, but I honestly never thought I'd experience one.  But, I've decided that if I'm going to have one, then I'm going to own it and have one with the kind of flair and panache that is uniquely me.

Enjoying...  the cooler, more seasonable weather here in Kentucky, finally!

Walking...  laps around my school (and sometimes in the hallways of my school if it's raining) 3 afternoons a week.

Researching...  fitness trackers.  I had no idea there were so many out there to choose from! It's actually a little overwhelming.

Supporting...  a good friend and coworker who was diagnosed with breast cancer back in the spring by walking with her in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this Saturday in downtown Louisville.

What have you been up to lately?

    1. Thank you! I didn't sign up for the "timed race." I just walked with my friend and her family in support and recognition of her breast cancer fight.

    1. Thank you!

Yeah, this whole clown thing is just weird and creepy. I don't particularly care for clowns to begin with, but these crazed, psychotic looking clowns... Well... It's a bit unnerving.

  3. Well done on the weight loss and finishing the reading challenge!

Someone posted on Facebook that creepy clowns have been spotted in Newcastle. That's Newcastle in the UK! It's crossed the ocean! I echo your sentiments.. what is going on?!

    1. Thank you on both accounts!

I have no idea what's going on... I mean, here in the US, with the two clowns running for the office of president, 2016 was already weird enough. And now we have this flux of creepy, psychotic looking clowns skulking around in the shadows? Weird-O-Rama!

  4. I am totally not a fan of the new 'press home to unlock' situation. I'm sure that once I get used to it it'll be fine but right now it just takes me twice as long to get into my phone!

    1. I'm STILL swiping to unlock! STILL! And as soon as I do, I usually let out an audible UGH b/c I know what I've done, it's just a second or two too late! Old habit truly die hard. Hang in there! We shall overcome!

  5. Let your freak flag fly on the midlife crisis!

RAGE at the clowns. They creep me OUT. I am also in a rage over the freaking lock button. I did a touch identification to unlock because I was getting frustrated.

Kudos on the weight loss and reading challenge!

    1. Amen, sista! Trust me, I'm letting it fly loud and proud! And I'm raging about a lot of things lately...these crazy clowns, the iOS changes, the state of humanity... Lord..

Thanks! The weight loss is a challenge for sure, but I have to fight the good fight.

    1. Well, I haven't really look at any specifically. I've just googled searches like "Best Fitness Trackers," etc. It is very overwhelming.

Thank you! I had my first no gain/no loss this morning (Sunday), which is a little disheartening, but it's just one week. I know I must stay the course.

Yes, they should give me the option to decide! I'm STILL swiping! Steph above mentioned doing a touch ID. I may have to resort to that.

  7. Congrats on the weight loss!! That's such a good feeling.

I haven't updated to iOS 10 yet. I have an iPhone 6 and iOS 9 already completely screwed my battery life. I'm intrigued by the new features, but my phone already plummets from 100% to 20% in a matter of hours with barely any use, and I'm afraid to make it worse!

I have to admit, I think the clown thing is kind of hilarious. Creepy, yes, but also a little hilarious.

    1. Thank you! Other than the belt and a couple pair of pants, I really haven't been able to tell the difference yet. It will come though. I just have to stay the course and the do the work.

  8. Congrats on the weight loss!! I hear ya on the overwhelmingness of fitness trackers. I was going to get a new one back in May (for my birthday), and I just could not decide!! And I still haven't bought a new one....haha!

I still haven't done the iOS update... I hate change so much! And nice work on completing Erin's book challenge! I still have 3.5 books to go and I don't think I will finish...I know I could change some of my books to fit what I feel like reading right now, but oh well.

    1. Thank you! I am going to get one as my reward when I hit 20lbs lost. I was hoping I'd reach that milestone this weekend, but I had a no loss/no gain weigh in this morning (Sunday). Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for the no gain part, but... Well, you know.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thank you! It has been a struggle at times, but I know it's something I MUST do. Had my first no change on the scale this morning (Sunday), which was kind of disheartening, but it's better than a gain and I just have to stay the course. I am so looking forward to the zip lining!

  10. First things first, congrats on the weight loss! That's amazing and certainly something to celebrate!!

I seem to be experiencing problems with my Fitbit lately (it's not syncing properly with my phone) so have been thinking about getting a new fitness tracker. Please let me know what you end up with and if it's one you'd recommend :)

Have always wanted to try ziplining but am also completely terrified, ha! Hope you have a great time!!

  11. Well done on your weightloss, it sounds like it's going really well! I just read today in one of the papers here in the UK about this mad clown thing since it's come over here too, I hate clowns and have no idea why people feel the need to dress up as them. And...I'm here in SE London watching a Bon Jovi concert from 1995 that happens to be on TV! X #mg
