Even before I used the power of Goodreads to determine the ten longest books I've ever read, I knew without a shadow of doubt which book would come in the top spot. And, the interesting thing about my longest book, I've read it not once, but twice!
Without further ado, here are my top ten longest books:

What's the longest book you've ever read?
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Well I hadn't set up my Goodreads to show me page numbers so that was the first thing I went off to do lol. Unsurprisingly Lord of the Rings was up at the top. I know technically it's 3 books but mine were in one book together and I read them straight through so I'm counting it as one. (1077 pages) It also lumped Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials together (1088 pages) but I read those as 3 stand alone books and not consecutively so doesn't count. Harry Potter, books by Jo Nesbo and David Baldacci also feature in my top 10. I still hope one day to get through A Suitable Boy at a massive 1474 pages. We had Pretty Girls in common.
ReplyDeleteThose are some BEHEMOTH books! Wow! I must confess that I typically shy away from long, long books. I just don't have the stamina for them or something.
DeleteGreat list! I forgot the Twilight books were so long! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, I remember having trouble holding books 3 and 4 (because I bought them in hardback) when trying to lie down and read because they were so thick and heavy. LOL!
Deleteah, I didn't think to add audiobooks. My post is here https://wordsandpeace.com/2018/10/09/top-ten-longest-books-ive-ever-read/ via @wordsandpeace
ReplyDeleteI actually had a few where the number of pages weren't as high as I thought they would be given how long the audiobook was. I think narrator pacing plays a big part in audiobook length.
DeleteThe longest books that I've read are the two that I'm currently reading: Way of Kings (1001 pgs) and Worm (approximately 6680 pgs). So yeeeeeah. But of the ones that I've actually finished, probably Winter (827), the whole Bible (which is apparently 1281 pages), and Eye of the Oracle (609). Those are basically the only huge books that I've read. ;)
ReplyDeleteI never realized that the Twilight books were so big! My goodness!!!
Yep, they all were pretty long. Funny, because I absolutely devoured all of them in no time if I'm remembering correctly. I tend to steer clear of big books these days for some reason. Commitment issues, perhaps? LOL!
DeleteOh I love listening to the really long books via audio too!! For some reason it helps me not to panic about how long they are?!😂And I kind of want to read Outlander but eep it is so so long haha. I also have read Twilight from your list!
ReplyDeleteI listened to Outlander on audiobook too - the narrator did a fantastic job. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out The Nightmare Before Christmas Book Tag
Longest book I’ve ever read is Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix! Some of the lengths of these made me shudder.

Outlander is on my list too! That is one long book and I really need to get going on the rest of the series!
