Happy Friday, everyone! Hoping this finds you having survived the workweek unscathed. A blogger acquaintance of mine inspired me to do a "Friday Favorites" post. It seemed like something fun to post, so here goes.

This is one my all time favorites because this has happened with my dog. She had a nice pillow in her kennel one night when we went to bed. When we let her out the next morning, it looked as if a small blizzard had occurred in her kennel overnight - stuff-n-fluff EVERYWHERE. |

I (and I know I'm not the only one) see some of the most idiotic stuff on Facebook. This meme is an AWESOME public service announcement. |

Last weekend, while at a restaurant, I watched a couple who were apparently on a date, scroll endlessly on their smartphones, completely ignoring the other, for 25 minutes (yes, I timed them). The only time they interacted with one another was to show the other something on their respective smartphones. It was sad. Don't ignore the live, breathing, flesh and bone people who are right in front of you. |

Facebook hoaxes, especially those copy and paste things that report that Facebook is going to start charging, etc., drive me bonkers. This meme sums up my feelings very well. |

Yep, I tried to watch the lunar eclipse last weekend, but the cloudy conditions in Louisville refused to play nice... Ah, well... Guess I'll just have to wait for the next one. |

I'm also linking up with Krysten @ Why Girls Are Weird and Lindsay @ The Flynnigans and sharing the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week.
- Dinner with my work teammates and a former teammate who is now retired.
- Good news at this week's faculty meeting.
- A hug from a random kid (that I don't know) during bus dismissal. Maybe I looked like I need a hug...
- Chicken and dumplings on a rainy evening.
- Leftover Giordano's pizza for lunch on Monday. It was almost as good as it was Saturday evening!
- Honeycrisp apples are available again! Oh, how I've missed them! I'm in fruit heaven!
- My husband, who cooks because he knows how much I hate doing it and how badly I am at it.
- Electricity. One of my stepdaughter's friends has been without electricity for over a week and she has crashed at our house several times on school nights. It has reminded me to be very appreciative and to not take it for granted.
- A student of mine is working on using irregular past tense verbs correctly. When I gave him the word caught yesterday, to use in a self generated sentence, he said, "I caught me some ribs!" I followed up with the question, "Tell me one time in your life in which you have had to catch ribs..." We both lost it at that point!
- The Geico commercial featuring the 80s hair band Europe. It makes me chuckle every time I see it.
Have a fantastic weekend wherever you are! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you, thank you for posting the Geico commercial. We don't get that ad in Australia, so I hadn't seen it. I love the hug from a random kid. That would make me happy too. The first meme is my dogs. I call them the destructive duo. ANYTHING with stuffing or foam gets destroyed within a few days...sadly, they get no more comfy bedding. Just rugs. And they tear those up too, but not as much as the pillows and dog beds.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! If any other hair metal bands make any commercials in the future, I'll be sure to send you the YouTube link!
DeleteCellphones are seriously the worst. I cannot tell you how many times my boyfriend and I will sit on the couch and not talk at all because we are scrolling. It's terrible. It's also why we instituted a "no cells rule" at dinner.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's a habit that I think almost anyone can fall into, no matter the age. I, too, have been guilty of this. It's important to remember this - Don't ignore the living.
DeleteI'm with you on number 7, so glad my hubby cooks! 25 minutes on their phones on a date oh no! #10thingsthatmakemehappy
ReplyDeleteYes, my husband actually enjoys cooking and is good at it, so I said, "Honey, it's your kitchen. You cook it and I will eat it." LOL!
DeleteI seriously loved every single one of the meme's you posted. You know what I can't stand, too? When people use Facebook as a way or searching for an answer, like "Does anyone know what time the library closes?" Or "Is such and such open on Labour Day Monday?" You know what, you're a big girl, why don't you GOOGLE it yourself. The amount of time it took you to type that post and then wait for people to answer, you could've already gotten your answer. Right? People....
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet and thoughtful of your man cooking for you. Especially after a long day, it is most appreciated.
Like Kari, We're both on our phones too much and I'm really making a concerted effort to only check in on my phone a couple times an evening. It's hard for me though because I used to blog a bit during the day when my day was slow but I'm lucky to get that time now, so when I do draft posts, my fingers are smoking from trying to get it all typed as quick as possible.
Thanks again for linking up; I enjoy reading your posts. :)
Have a great weekend hun xo
Amen! Yes, I have FB friends who do that, too, and I just think, "C'mon... Get with the program. Look it up!"
DeleteMy husband is really good at cooking and he enjoys it, so it's really a no-brainer that he does it. On the other hand, if I cooked, we'd both be a lot skinnier... LOL!
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoy reading them! Have a great weekend!
