1) Banned Books Week starts Sunday
Every year during this week, I make it a point to read a book that has made the banned book list or has been challenged. This year, I will be listening to the audiobook, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Completing this book will also satisfy my personal goal of reading four classics this year as well as help me finish Book Challenge by Erin 5.0 (TAoHF satisfies the category of reading a book that was written over 100 years ago).
2) Speaking of Erin... Erin @ TexErin-in-Sydneyland's shout out in her most recent installment of Blogger Love.
(Thanks, Erin!) Erin does an amazing job of supporting her fellow bloggers. I truly strive to be more like her.
3) Steph @ Life According to Steph's thoughts on banned books in her post Any Book Worth Banning is a Book Worth Reading
4) Yesterday's Google Doodle
Yeah, it doesn't take much to entertain me... LOL!
5) This
I'm not much of a pumpkin spice fan, so I'm always amused this time of year by the number of pumpkin spice items that appear and by how crazy some folks become of said pumpkin spiced items.
BONUS:
I'm not much of a country music fan, but this is undoubtedly one of the prettiest versions of Take Me Home, Country Roads that I've ever heard. Granted, I know I'm VERY partial towards this song, but I think it's absolutely beautiful. Hearing it makes me very homesick for my mountain mama.
I hope this finds you having a great Friday! May your weekend be even better!

Hahaha... I love that Google doodle! I hadn't seen it :-D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Google doodles! Have a great weekend!
DeleteGoogle always has the best "doodles!" Is that the actual name? If so, I've never know what to call it! Even if not, it sounds perfect! My husband, who is not a country fan, told me about the video last night and said I should watch it - he thought it was "right in my wheelhouse!" I grew up on country music so thought it was pretty cool . . . although I so prefer the original song! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, they're actually called that. You can even view other ones here: https://www.google.com/doodles/
DeleteI think this version really hit home with me bc "I Will Always Love You" was mixed with it. I actually teared up when whoever started singing "I'll think of you every step of the way" bc that's how I feel towards my beloved WV. I can't be there and it breaks my heart, but I carry WV inside me always.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
Your pumpkin funnie! So true. I can't walk down any aisle now and not see pumpkin something. Crazy much!
ReplyDeleteYes, the pumpkin craze is wild!
DeleteThe pumpkin craze is something else. I just don't get it, so I keep my head down and wait till it's time for peppermint everything lol.
ReplyDeleteI noticed on the side you are reading "On Dublin Street." I read it earlier this year and oh my gosh so good!!!
~Melanie @ forloveandtravel.blogspot.de
Oh, I am TOTALLY enjoying On Dublin Street. Have a great weekend!
DeleteOMG! Country Roads is very near and dear to my heart! My husband is from WV and plays this every time we cross it's boarder. It was the send off song at our wedding. I LOVE this version!! What a great list!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhat part of the state is he from? Im from the southern part of the state. I have done that (played the song when I cross the state line) many, many times myself. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by!
I am also not a big fan of pumpkin or pumpkin spice anything, so I don't understand all the rage come fall and how people just have this NEED for it. To each their own, though.
ReplyDeleteI also thought the Google Doodle yesterday was quite cute, although I can't remember what the heck it was for.
Nevertheless, HAPPY FRIDAY! I hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend ahead of you, Ericka. :)
xo
The pumpkin spice everything craze is definitely one that I don't get either. Go figure... Happy Friday and weekend to you!
DeleteI switched to Bing when Google tried to shove their left-wing politics down people's throats.
ReplyDeleteYour banned book seems a bit tame. Was it banned because of the n-word?
LOL! Well, E Man, sorry to disappoint you with my book selection. Somehow I escaped childhood having not read it, so I figured this was as good as time as any to read it. And, given that it satisfies the tenth and final category of the book challenge I've been struggling to finish. Yes, I do believe it was due to the use of the n-word.
DeleteI think I was commenting more on it being a lame reason to ban it than on whether you should read it or not.
DeleteLOL! Thanks for clearing that up. ;)
DeleteI love the idea of reading a banned book--it's been a while since I have. I used to work in publishing and I remember each year a new book would make it on the list that always shocked everyone... so the Banned Books Anthology we sold became quite popular :) Anyway love the Google Doodle. And sorry--I'm unapologetic with my pumpkin love :) I think it feels satisfying to have something so comforting in the colder weather.
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying your weekend! XOXO
LOL! No apologies for your pumpkin love! I'm all about "whatever floats your boat." If pumpkin does something for ya, then by all means - indulge while you can! Y'all just amuse me! Have a good one!
DeleteLove that Googel Doodle - I always wonder what they come up with next. And I love the idea of reading a banned book!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay to pumpkin everything! Hope your weekend is wonderful! xxx
I agree! I'm always amazed at what they come up with. Thanks for stopping by!
Deletei like pumpkin bread and butter, that's it. i tried a pumpkin spiced chocolate square in orlando and that did not taste good :(
ReplyDeleteI'm just not a big pumpkin fan of anything, not even real pumpkins! LOL!
DeleteI've seen a lot of people share that CMA video, but I hadn't watched it until now. Wow. I got goosebumps! I'm partial to the old country favorites and when Ronnie Milsap and Charley Pride showed up, I almost started crying. Both of those artists were favorites of my grandfather.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment and love shared about me.
You are quite welcome! You do such a good job at spreading the blogger love!
