  1. The only one of yours I haven't seen is breaking away. I live near the water and jaws gave me nightmares for a while when I was a kid.

    1. You should watch it if you ever find it on TV. It is a quintessential underdog movie. Yeah, Jaws changed my willingness to venture out into murky water, even now! The last time I was at Myrtle Beach, I ventured out a little further than I typically do and some seaweed (or something) brushed my leg and I completely freaked thinking some shark was gonna get me!

  2. Unlike the comment above, I think Breaking Away is the only one I'm unfamiliar with, but I recognize 3 of the 4 actors pictured in the movie poster.
I like how you structured this post.

I love Breaking Away. I would recommend watching it if you like underdog movies.

    1. Oh, yes... the Robert Redford version. I love that version. I appreciate the Leonardo DiCaprio version, but it's not the same as the 74 version. Perhaps I'm a purist. LOL!

  5. Oh man... if I went to the Best Song category, I probably would have never been able to choose - music makes a movie.
Now I feel like getting my MANIAC on from Flashdance ;)

  7. Oh man, good list! Gatsby and Officer are such great movies. And these Oscar winning songs are jams! I have never even heard of Breaking Away. I need to look that one up stat.

  8. I read The Great Gatsby and didn't like it. So I'm in no rush to see the movie, or the re-make.

Haven't seen Jaws and it kind of seems pointless now. But back then - it shut down a lot of beaches.

I've seen Rocky and Breaking Away. That's Stallone's real-life dog in the former.

Haven't seen Coal Miner's Daughter. Spacek's good though.

I've seen Arthur and Tootsie, but both were a long time ago.

Seen An Officer and a Gentleman.

I saw E.T. in Boston, which makes it the first movie I saw outside my hometown. It's the movie that put Reese's Pieces on the map.

I've seen Flashdance and Purple Rain.
