Humpday Confessions (Vol. 2)

It's Wednesday and you know what that means - it's time for Humpday Confessions!

*Disclaimer - The theme of this week's confessions is "Things that have really annoyed me lately."  Consider yourself warned.  LOL!

Confession:  I'm sick of hearing about the 2016 presidential election and it’s not even 2016 yet.  We still have 11 more months of this nonsense.

Confession: I’m tired of being privy to celebrities’ dirty laundry.  I find it annoying that anything celebrities say or do nowadays is automatically newsworthy.
Confession: I used to watch the news in the morning for about 15 minutes while getting ready for work. I gave that up about 6 years ago when the local morning news became so depressing… “The 52nd homicide of the year occurred in Louisville last night…”  Starting my day off with all that bad news was really a downer.  So I quit.  As a result, I rarely have any idea of what's going on locally.

Confession:  90% of current events that I’m aware of (Starbuck’s cupgate, the Paris attacks, the Mizzou threat, the fact that Blake Shelton and Gwen Steffani are dating, and Charlie Sheen’s HIV status, to name a few), I learned through Facebook, which is sad.
It’s also sad because it means that the overwhelming bombardment of news and current events that I’m trying to avoid (by not watching the news) is still invading my life to some degree through a tool that I use in order to temporarily escape reality.

Confession:  I have established a rule that (unless it’s an absolute have-to situation) I do not open up my work email until lunch or later.  I have opened up too many emails this year first thing in the morning that absolutely infuriated me and set the mood for the entire day.  Email, when used appropriately, can be a wonderful tool, but sadly in this day and age, it's just a huge time waster.

Confession:  Junk email is almost as bad, in my opinion, as physical junk mail.  At least junk email doesn’t litter up the planet and clog up landfills.  I am very diligent in unsubscribing and not giving out my email to every Tom, Dick, and Harry, but the junk still finds its way in.  Anyone else out there feel like this:

Confession:  People who do not know the difference or understand when to use “Reply” versus “Reply to all” ought to be strung up by their toes!

Confession:  I am tired of passwords.  I’m tired of specified criteria for my passwords.  I’m tired of constantly having to change my passwords.  I know, I know, I know... Passwords are a necessary evil, but this whole password thing has gotten completely out of hand.

Confession:  I am tired of sitting in meetings just for the sake of sitting in a meeting.

LOL!  Well, I don't know about you, but I sure feel better!  Sometimes you just need to get some stuff off your chest!

How about yourself?  Can you relate with any of these?  Happy Wednesday to you and thanks for stopping by!

  1. One time, I replied all when I said something nasty about my boss at the time. I learned quickly to double-check and triple-check who I was replying to! News via facebook is sad, I agree. And, I'm tired of the 2016 election coverage, and I don't even live in the US anymore!

    1. Case in point - there was a big mass shooting today in San Bernadino, CA and at UNC in Durham, NC. Where did I first learn about both situations - FB. Yes, I know, I am pathetic.

How aggravating that must be to have to deal with our crazy election BS when you are in another country!

  2. I definitely had to stop watching the news first thing in the morning because it is very depressing but I do still try to make sure I check it daily, I prefer to find out what is going on from some sort of credible new agency then the posts on FB(which I still end up seeing anyway) ALso...2016 election coverage is a giant shit show

  3. YES to the passwords. I just changed mine three months ago and now my computer is making me change it again. Can I at least get a year out of one password? Ugh. For news, I subscribe to the Skimm. You should check it out. It's all the important news summed up in one email every weekday morning. And it's good news, not celebrity "news".

    1. Hallelujah I'm not the only one in Louisville that doesn't watch the news! No news watching Louisvillians UNITE! LOL!

  6. Yes to all of these! I'm like you and I stopped watching the morning news but sadly I don't really have to watch any news anymore because everything is automatically shared on Facebook (which isn't always a good thing). And seriously the reply all button should be done away with in an office setting. Hope you have a great day :)

    1. Yes, I think one should have to pass a competency test before they are given free access to the Reply to All button! LOL! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Facebook is the worst when it comes to news being shared. I always am seeing things related to the unfortunate things happening and ridiculous celebrity gossip. I am so glad I don't have to worry about my coworkers hitting reply all when they shouldn't, but I can definitely agree with some of the meetings being crazy boring.

    1. I work with some people who are oblivious to how aggravating reading a message that was intended for one person, but was sent to the entire group or even worse - the entire school, can be. Some people just don't get it and probably never will! LOL!
