Currently (Vol. 3)

*If you are seeking my post associated with the letter F (as a part of the Blogging A to Z April Challenge), it is the next post down or you can click here. But, hey!  If you're not in a hurry, feel free to look around!

I wasn't planning on posting another "Currently..." post this soon given that I just posted one last week.  Trust me, my life is not that exciting to do these very often.  LOL! However, I learned that next week will be the last Stuff & Things linkup.  I'll be back to work next week and I'm anticipating the week will be INSANE, so I doubt I'll be able to link up then.  I wanted to participate one last time.

Kristin, it's been fun!  Thank you for the platform to find new blogs that I otherwise might never have found.  As I have grown older, I've embraced this motto - if something is causing you more grief or stress than it is giving you joy, then it's time to kick that thing to the curb.  Life is simply too short to do things that don't bring you happiness.

Without further ado, this is what I'm doing currently...

- Breathing…the crisp, clean mountain air of the “Wild and Wonderful.”  (That’s what many of my friends and I, especially those of us who have moved from our native state, have come to call West Virginia.)

- Enjoying…Spring Break.  No work, no alarm, no early morning commutes, no paperwork, no Medicaid billing, no gridlock on the way home…  It is fabulous.

- (Still) Reading…Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan.  I had hoped to finish it by now, but I've been busy visiting relatives, working on some work stuff (yuck), writing future blog entries, and just being still.

- Eating…a fabulous calzone from a place in my hometown (well, last night I ate one).

- Admiring...the vivid purple hue of the budding Eastern Red Bud trees that line the roadways and rivers here in southern West Virginia.

- Listening...to my mother's melodic wind chimes blowing in the breeze.

- Putting the finishing touches on…a blog post titled “G is for Granny” that I will publish tomorrow.  All month long, I’m posting a series of 26 alphabetical blog posts ranging in a variety of topics.  Check them out!

- Hemming...two pairs of pants that are a mile long!  (Yes, I can actually sew!  It's the one domestic skill I possess!)

- Taking...very fast showers!  My folks' water heater is being replaced today so I've had to take speedy showers this week so I don't get caught with a head full of conditioner when the hot water vanishes!

- Digging out...my winter coat!  March was apparently a tease with it's above average, mild temperatures, because Old Man Winter has decided to return to parts of the east and south.  There's a possibility of snow here in southern West Virginia on Saturday.  Burr!

- Learning...life lessons.  You know that old saying, "Sometimes people come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime."  I honestly think that I've experienced a reason visit from someone who is simply passing through.  I haven't fully processed it all yet, so all I can say right now is, thank you for the life lesson that I apparently needed to learn or in this case - relearn.

What's new with you?  Hoping all is well.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I visited my family in West Virginia last Christmas, but before that, I don't think I'd been back in a little over a year and a half. I'll be going back sometime next year, but probably not before that ... There's just too much other stuff going on between work, coordinating schedules with everyone, and other travel. I'm glad you're enjoying your time!

That life lesson is a tough one for me as well. It's such a sad saying, but it's really true. Unfortunately, sometimes I have a hard time letting go of the "season" people ... These are the people I've grown to care about deeply, so it can be so painful to say goodbye and move on.

I had a very close friend (one of my best friends for a long time) who chose to break ties with me and our other close mutual friends a few years ago. I still don't really know why. It was like one minute she was there, spending her weekends with us and keeping us all up to date on what was going on with her life ... And the next minute, she was always too busy to hang out and eventually just stopped returning our calls and texts. It was weird and it hurt. It still hurts, to be honest. This is a girl I imagined would be one of my bridesmaids if I ever got married. And then when I actually got married, I didn't even invite her to the wedding because we hadn't spoken in at least two or three years. I struggled with that and cried about it (a LOT), but in the end, I knew I shouldn't invite her. She obviously didn't want to be part of my life anymore, so why try to force things?

    1. I'm sorry for my tardiness in responding. Somehow I missed your comment. I had a similar experience last year with a friend from my childhood. We have parted ways. Although I know it is for the best, the fact that it happened saddens me. Just one of life's facts - change is inevitable, including friendships. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I'm super happy for you that you're having some time in West Virginia. Absorb all the beauties that make it "home".
I think all adults need a Spring Break. Why can't all jobs allow that for mental health rejuvenation? I think it's a fabulous idea.

    1. Thanks, girl! It's nice to come home and just absorb, as you put it.

I agree! Adults need Spring break, too! I'm all for that! And, while we're are at it, I'm all about afternoon siestas like those that take place in Mexico. Naps are fabulous!

  5. I feel like I never get the reading done that I want to when I'm visiting my family because I'm always having way too much fun catching up with them. I can't wait to hear what you think of Crazy Rich Asians though! I'm sorry that it's so cold up there! Hopefully it'll warm up soon!

    1. Well, right now (in WV) it is snowing. Sigh... Once I finish CRA, I'll write a review for Erin's Challenge page. I heard that it is supposed to be made into a movie at some point... We shall see. Have a good one!
