Currently... (Vol. 5)

Thinking...that I need an updated "Currently" picture.  This one will suffice for today, as it's still technically spring, but I must make a mental note to make a new one before July.

Sleeping... in. Sorta. Not having to set an alarm and wake up at 5:30 a.m. is bliss. However, my bladder has yet to get the memo about it being summer break and is still waking me up around 6:00 a.m.

Enjoying...sitting out on my deck with my dog. This truly is one my life's greatest little pleasures.

Noting...that my pretty four-legged girl is in desperate need of a bath! Man, she stinks! I love her, but pee-yew!

Wondering...how to really spell pee-yew. When I googled it, several variations came up: pee-yew, pee-you, pee-yoo, P.U, and pyew. I'm not sure I've ever had any reason to write it before. I mean, I've said it throughout my life, but don't think I've ever written it. This is definitely one of those things that make ya go hmmm?

Participating in...Megan's Semi Charmed Summer Book Challenge, which started yesterday.  Twelve books, three months, two hundred points. Let's do this!

Attempting...to only read books that I already own/possess during the entire month of June for Erin and Dani's Read My Books Challenge. This is going to be somewhat of a challenge, no pun intended, because this will require me to only use books I already have for Megan's challenge, too. We shall see how this turns out.

Planning...my preliminary list of books for Erin's Book Challenge 5.0, which starts on July 1. Click on the challenge name for more information.

Admitting...that I'm obviously a book challenge junkie.

Listening to...As You Wish - Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes on audiobook.  So far, it's really good!

Watching...last Saturday's episode of Outlander.  Sometimes the Scottish accents make comprehending everything that is said a little difficult, so I often watch it twice to get all the details.  And...I admit, I have a wee-bit of a crush on Jamie Fraser, so I'm never opposed to watching an episode twice.

Envying...a coworker who is currently at the beach and has been posting beach and ocean pictures on Facebook constantly since his arrival.  Rub it in why don't ya?  Sadly, there are no beach trips on my horizon.

Shopping...for socks, a new pair of sneakers, new outside lights, an adirondack chair, and some "dressier" outfits for Vegas. And by dressier, I mean no t-shirts with writing on them and no Nike or Adidas athletic shorts. LOL!

Preparing...an around the house summer to-do list (repaint the hallway, declutter, wash baseboards, clean out kitchen cabinets, purge garage, pressure wash the deck, landscape around the deck...)

Reflecting on...the previous school year. On Tuesday, I finished my end of the school year duties, crossed off the numerous items on my principal's end of the year checklist, and turned in my room and building keys for the seventeenth time in my career. This year was tough, for I always felt as if I was behind on paperwork and could never fully catch up. I constantly felt as if I was only treading water. I need to figure out how to remedy this, for I can't have another year like this one.

Wondering...where in the world 16.5 years have gone. I still remember the first day I walked into my room, the room I still have today, freshly out of grad school and absolutely scared to death. Sometimes it feels just like yesterday.

Remembering...a student I had many years ago, who will be laid to rest today, after taking his life last week at the age of 16.  Rest in peace CS.

  1. Ugh. The loss of your student. That is so painful.
As you know, I'm juggling all the challenges too. Shall be interesting......
I like your definition of "dressier" for Vegas :)

    1. It was somewhat shocking, but at the same time somewhat expected. He suffered from some mental health issues and we knew that even when he was in elementary school. Regardless, it is still very sad and tragic.

Yes, "dressier..." I'm such a simple, bland, predictable dresser. For work I wear basic pants and a polo shirt. It's easy, it's all washable, and it's a timeless kind of look. Very uniform. When I'm not a work, there is a 97% chance that I'll be in a t-shirt and athletic pants/shorts. (I'm not really a fan of jeans...) I figure my usual non-work wardrobe will be fine doing the day in Vegas, but my gal pals and I will be going out in the evenings to dinner and shows and I know that my "athleisure" attire isn't going to cut it...

  2. haha i watch everything with subtitles, so i have no problem with the accents..... but i might watch them twice or more. i actually haven't seen the new season, as i haven't read the second book and want to do that first. but i have seen the first season multiple times. my body doesn't know what sleeping in is. the other weekend i woke up at 7:30 and i was like omg half the day is gone. haha. i'm never on facebook so i didn't know erin's challenge list was out yet. yay!

  3. So sad a life so young, gone.

I like the idea of an around the house to do list...I don't like executing one. LOL

I've slept in until 9 a few times on weekends in the past few weeks and it's been glorious.

  4. So happy that you'll be joining the challenge! I'm doing Erin's other one as well, even though in general reading challenges stress me out a little bit. But I've been in a reading rut and I need to get out, so hopefully this will help! Yay for Vegas- have fun!

  5. Haha, love how you explain "dressier" for Vegas! So fun you are doing so many reading challenges! I am so excited for Erin and Dani's this month, though we are moving this month, so I'm going to have to stick with Kindle books I downloaded months ago.

  6. I've been loving sitting on my deck with my dog too..particularly with a glass of wine at the end of a long day ;) Thanks for linking up with us and good luck with your reading challenges!

  7. I know what you mean with the beach pictures. We've already planned our non-beach vacation this year and all these beach pictures make me feel a bit of regret that I'm not going to be enjoying sand and waves this year!

  8. So sad to hear about your student. Death is never easy to deal with, but I think somehow it feels harder when the person was very young.

On a more positive note, I (as you know) am also juggling a bunch of book challenges. I never realized just how much fun they could be until I did one last summer. Now I love them!

I always sleep in on the weekends. I would sleep in every day if I could. Haha.

Your dressier outfits comment cracked me up! I feel like that sometimes. I mean, I'll wear a "cute" outfit once in a while, but most of the time I stick with jeans and t-shirts/hoodies (depending on the season) because I like to be comfortable.
