Making... some progress in Erin's current reading challenge. To date I've completed a whopping two categories (see very bottom) for 15 points.
Looking... forward to watching the Winter Olympics! The winter games are my favorite!
Watching... episodes of Planet Earth: Blue Earth II on BBC America.
Preparing... to turn another year older. This year I'll be 44, which is... weird. This will be my last year being able to check the "35-44 years old" demographic box on surveys and such.

Thanking... E Man for the prizes he sent me for winning his year-long Elliptical Challenge. (Thanks, E Man!)
Feeling... optimistic. Since New Year's, I've lost five pounds. It's nice seeing the scale move again (and move again in the right direction) after this long, eight month plateau.
Researching... a trail in Zion National Park called Angel's Landing. From what I've read, it's one of the more challenging hikes in the United States. I'm not sure if I'm up for it or not. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.

Deciding... on a pair of hiking shoes.
Dreading... going to my state's annual speech pathology conference later this month. As I've expressed before, I really don't enjoy going to this conference, but, in the shortest explanation possible, I must go.
Loving... that it's a little bit lighter each morning when I arrive to work.
Beginning... my "training" for the KDF Mini Marathon. Let me clarify that I'm going to walk it. Ol' girl here does not run unless something or someone is chasing me.
Enjoying... my Movie Pass subscription (currently $10 a month)! In January, I watched 5 movies in the theater: Wonder, Jumanji, Pitch Perfect 3, Coco, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Listening to... the audiobook Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.
Reading... yes, like with my eyeballs reading, Master of the Abyss by Cherise Sinclair.
Shaking... my head at the ridiculousness of teenagers participating in the Tide Pod Challenge. I mean, really...
What have you been up to lately?

Teens eating tide pods are just...so dumb. So dumb!! I really want to get a MoviePass. I might need to do that this month. I love going to the movies, and this would save me SO much money. Congrats on losing weight! I was going up a little/staying the same for awhile there, so I know the feeling. I lost a few pounds so I'm excited about that and I hope to get more active and lose some more this month.

I would've been very skeptical about Movie Pass (I mean, seriously, one movie per day at participating theaters for $10 a month?), but I saw it on the Techno Claus portion of CBS Sunday Morning back before Christmas. I paid 3 months in advance and I've already gotten my money's worth out of it.
DeleteGood luck to you! Hope you can continue your weight loss momentum!
Lots of positives there especially the weight loss. That hike looks terrifying!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYes, it does look rather terrifying, especially from that angle. I'm going to attempt and I'll go as far as I'm comfortably going, but I'm making no promises.
I'm excited for the Winter Olympics, too!
ReplyDeleteJust a few more days.... :)
DeleteCongrats on the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jumanji. I wanna see that.
Thank you!
DeleteYes, Jumanji was very fun!
Congrats on the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI can never get enough of the Winter Olympics. I never watch the summer ones. Isn't that odd?
Thank you!
DeleteI watch both of the olympics, but I watch more of the winter games than the summer. Some of the summer events I just don't care for.
The Olympics are my favorite and I can't wait to obsess about them all day and night! Haha! Congrats on 5 pounds! That's awesome in just one month! Little Fires Everywhere is so good!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's been a struggle and I was so very glad to see the scale move finally!
DeleteI just finished Little Fires Everywhere last night and I agree, it was really good!
Love this post! You have a lot going on.
ReplyDelete"Ol' girl here does not run unless something or someone is chasing me."
That made me laugh. That's me. I can walk a long distance but nope to running. I am started to ride the bike I got for Christmas and that's been going better than expected.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
Thank you! Yeah, January, despite its tendency to be rather mundane, was a semi-eventful month.
DeleteYep, I am not a runner unless I have to be! Have fun on your bike!
lol @ we didn't eat tide pods. seriously how stupid are kids these days. the Movie Pass subscription sounds awesome - $10 a month?! i am not a hiker though i have been to Zion. that picture made my stomach drop lol. congrats on the weight loss after your plateau! that's awesome. i have not decided if i'm doing the mini this year. i haven't been training and it's sneaking up on me... eh. we'll see. maybe i'll walk it too.
ReplyDeleteI know... eating laundry detergent. Stupidity, insanity, something. Yes, the Movie Pass (for the time being, I don't know how long it will stay this way) is only $10 a month and allows for one regular movie (no 3D) per day at participating theaters, which is nearly every theater here in Louisville. I'm not sure how they expect to make any money off this, because I, for one, saw $50-60 worth of movies last month. I intend to get the most of it while I can. I'm not a hiker either, I mean, I've never really hiked before but I do walk a lot. This hiking trip out west will be interesting for sure.
DeleteI still can't believe the Tide Pod challenge is a thing. It's unbelievably stupid and ... Just ... What's the point? To say you did it? To show the world that you can do something incredibly ridiculous and dangerous for no apparent reason? I just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a hiker, but that picture you posted looks amazing! If I did hike, I'd definitely want to do something like that just for the phenomenal views and the personal challenge (because, let's be honest, it looks extremely difficult as well).
I hope you're loving Little Fires Everywhere! It's been one of my favorite reads so far this year.
I'm making progress with Erin's challenge as well, but I recently checked a couple of books out at the library that have ridiculously long waiting lists ... So I'll have to make sure I get to those sooner rather than later. (And put Erin's challenge on hold while I read those.)
Congrats on the weight loss! It always feels good to make progress, and I wish you continued luck! :-)
