Admiring... the purple chicory blossoms that are now in bloom in my favorite park.
Celebrating... 15th wedding anniversary. Sometimes it feels like it's been forever and sometimes it feels as if it's passed in the blink of an eye.
Looking... forward to seeing Journey and Def Leppard next week! I've seen Def Lep before, 3 or 4 times actually, but I've never seen Journey.
Contemplating... doing another half marathon in the fall. I'm not 100% committed just yet, nor have I chosen one that I'd like to do, but I'm thinking about it.
Saddened... by the cancellation of the musical Waitress at The Kentucky Center, which sustained extensive water damage after a roof fire on June 13. Waitress was the show I was most looking forward to seeing this season.
Crossing... my fingers that they will be able to make the necessary repairs to The Kentucky Center before the 2018-19 Broadway Across America season begins in October.
Savoring... quiet mornings in the house before everyone wakes up and being able to ease into the morning. I will miss this next month.
Listening... to the audiobook Finding Fraser by KC Dyer.
Re-reading... (yes, like with my eyeballs reading) Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Wishing... the time I spend in WV with my family, especially with my 86 year old grandfather (who just had quintuple bypass surgery in May) and my 85 year old grandmother, would slow down.
Watching... old episodes of Sons of Anarchy through Amazon Prime Video. I know, I know... What can I say? SOA has long been one of my guilty pleasures.
Enjoying... my morning weekday walks in the park and at the zoo. This is something else I will miss when I return to work next month.
Needing... a weekend visit with my bestie. C, it's been too long.
Missing... corn on the cob, which I always looked forward to every summer for many, many years. Alas, corn and I had to break up a few years ago because our relationship was tumultuous and sometimes violent.
Annoyed... by a persistent phone scammer from New York state who continues to call me from different numbers (thus making me have to block each and every number), insisting that I have "four serious allegations against me," and that I'll be "taken into police custody" if I don't call them back to resolve this issue. Grrr... Hey, scammer scumbags, if I've done something so terrible - come and get me!

Deciding... to take a break from seasonal goals, although I did well on the goals I made for spring. Here's how I did:
- ✔ Finish the KDF Mini Marathon injury free and with a smile of gratitude on my face - COMPLETED!
- ✗ Drink more water (because I really suck at it and know I don't drink enough).
- ✔ Have all of my end of the year paperwork finished and filed on or before my last day of work - COMPLETED!
- ✔ Be brave (but not stupid) when I go to Utah in June - COMPLETED!
Recommending... this video to anyone who wants to understand more about the demands of the teaching profession and why so many teachers are choosing to leave the field. Thanks to Kristin who initially posted it on her blog last week.
June in a snapshot:
1) Zebra statue made of Legos, hiking amongst the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon NP, dusty trails = dusty shoes 2) Hiking the Hickman Bridge Trail in Capitol Reef NP, huckleberry soda pop (TASTY!), Kodak moment with Delicate Arch (Arches NP) 3) Four Corners Monument, the 47 degree water of the Colorado River, view from Angel's Landing |
What have you been up to lately? How's summer treating ya so far?

Watching: I think the take-away from that show is that Katey Sagal can sing.
ReplyDeleteThanking: You should knock down that weird rock thingy so you can see the sky better.
I'd agree with the Katey Sagal comment. Another take-away, for me at least, is that Charlie Hunnam is incredibly easy on the eyes. :)
DeleteKnock down that weird rock thingy... Bite your tongue, E Man!
Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary. 15 years is a treasure. PS i loved eat pray love when I read it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I loved it too when I read it many years ago. I felt the need to break it out again and revisit it.
DeleteOoh, that trip!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!
Sorry about the Waitress cancellation, that's a bummer.
Yes, that trip! LOL! Thank you and thank you. I'm hoping that I might be able to get tickets to see Waitress in another city. *Fingers crossed*
DeleteThat same scammer from New York has been calling me too! And I'm so sorry that Waitress was canceled for you, it was such a good show! Hopefully it'll come back around soon, or if you end up traveling sometime soon, you could always look to see if it's playing in the city that you're visiting!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that bizarre? I bet I've blocked at least a dozen different numbers that this scammer is using. Grr... It should be illegal. I think Waitress is coming to Indianapolis next year, which is only 2 hours away. I think I'm going to look into getting tickets for it there.
DeleteHappy anniversary! Yay for 15 years! Your Southwest adventure sounds fun! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI had a great time out west!
I can't believe that, in any other year, I'd be starting to think about school this week (after the 4th).
ReplyDeleteMy friend teaches in OK and it's awful. But army wives work where they can work. I just got lucky those first few years in good states for teachers!
Enjoy your time to rest and relax!
I guess that would be a strange sensation (knowing that you'd be starting to think about school on any other give year). I won't know it for at least 12 more years (retirement). LOL!
DeleteThanks! I'm trying to make the most of every minute!
Happy anniversary! And yes, morning walks are the BEST!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLOL I still love the "brave but not stupid" goal. That should be my daily motto, tbh. I'm sad that you'll be missing Waitress! I've been hearing great things about it! Hoping it will come back since they couldn't make it happen this season! (I need to start going to musicals again.)
ReplyDeleteWaitress is coming to Indianapolis next spring, so I may get a chance then. Indy is about 2 hours from me. "Be brave, not stupid" is my mantra for many outdoor pursuits bc there is a fine line separating the two. :)
Deletehappy anniversary! we have not been married that long but i agree, sometimes it feels like i've been married 100 years and other times i feel like we just got married. Journey! fun. have you ever done the Urban Bourbon? I think I've done it twice, or maybe just once. I liked it! Sons of Anarchy is on my list to watch when I get in a TV watching mood. it is very sad about the KY center. hope they get it fixed soon. I'd love to see Waitress as well. my favourite thing to do to scammers is answer and then put them on hold. hahaha. it entertains me for some reason.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't done the Urban Bourbon. I've looked into it, but as a walker I have to take into consideration what the time limits are for races. I think the UB's time limit is like 3 hours or something. Given that I walk and that I have a short stride, I need more time. If the NY scammer calls back, from yet another number, I might just do that. :)
DeleteHappy 15th Wedding Anniversary! So sad about corn- I looove corn on the cob!
ReplyDeleteI want to vacation out west again. It's just so so so pretty!
I'm so sad for you about Waitress! I saw it in Nov. and LOVED it!
Thank you! Ah, yes... the breakup with corn. I do miss it, but I don't miss the after effects if you catch my drift... There might be a chance to see Waitress in Indianapolis next year. We'll have to see.
