10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week (Vol. 24)

1.  My husband and I finally got the entire deck, spindles and all, pressure washed.  I wish it could stay this clean all the time...

2.  Watching the Tony Awards.  It's a shame that I don't live closer to NYC because I'd really like to see Hamilton with its original cast.  Oh, well...  At least Hamilton will be in Chicago this fall and winter; Chicago is much more doable for me.

3.  Reading (well, listening to) Sick Puppy by Carl Hiaasen.  Hiaasen's noir-humor isn't for everyone and I admit that I can't take it in great quantity, but I do so enjoy a good Hiaasen book from time to time.

4.  Speaking up pups, I've thoroughly enjoyed some summer deck time with this four legged gal.

5.  A quick drive-by of my alma mater, Marshall University, during my trip in to West Virginia.  I have so many fond memories of my time there.

6.  Listening to my grandpa tell stories of his childhood and listening to him crack himself up!

7.  Kitchen conversations with my mom.

8.  Riding ATVs in mountains with my uncle.  Check out this amazing view:

9.  A day trip to Hawk's Nest State Park (WV) with my mom and aunt.

10.  This version of AC/DC's Thunderstruck:

11)  BONUS!  Providing the inspiration and being "featured" in a fellow blogger's post

So, what do you think of this version of Thunderstruck?  What's something that made you happy recently?

Hoping this finds you doing well and gearing up for a great week!  As always, thank you for stopping by!

  1. I can't figure out this Hamilton obsession. A rap musical about a former President? I read the synopsis and I can't figure out why it would be such a national craze...but maybe the musical numbers are just super-good? So confused!

    1. My interest in Hamilton stems from its uniqueness. My husband and I see 4-5 touring Broadway shows each year and something that I've learned from that is that I like fresh, innovative shows. Hamilton's concept is just that in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the classic musicals such as Les Mis, Phantom, Cats, or Miss Saigon. I prefer shows that step outside the box to some degree.

    1. You are very fortunate to be so close to NYC! I am envious of your proximity to the Big Apple! Tickets for shows in Chicago went on sale this morning, so I'm trying to figure out when to go. Looks like a road trip to Chicago will be in my foreseeable future! Have a good one!

  4. I bet your deck looks beautiful, nice and fresh looking. Those mountain views are pretty spectacular - kinda makes you pause and just take it all in to appreciate.

I hope you're already enjoying your break. Have a great week, Ericka! :)

  6. I watched the Tonys for the first time this year and it was SO good, I don't know how I've never seen it before because I always end up watching the Oscars and Golden Globes. I would LOVE to see Hamilton eventually!
