Currently... (Vol. 15)

Loving...  my  new "Currently" picture.  I took that on Tuesday at my mom's house in West Virginia!

Thinking...  it was a miracle that I got so close to that bee and didn't get stung!

Enjoying...  Spring Break and the opportunity to visit my family.

Listening...  to my mother's wind chimes, which have received quite a workout the past day or two.

Watching...  a live stream of my friend and officemate getting married in Las Vegas (as I compose this).  Congratulations, M!  I'm so happy for you!

Wishing...  that the weather could stay like it was on Tuesday and Wednesday - sunny, around 70.  I wore shorts yesterday.  Tomorrow, it could snow...  Seriously.

Participating...  in the A to Z Blogging Challenge like I did last year.  I've gone back and forth and have been on the fence for months as to whether I'd participate this year.  I kind of felt that my heart just wasn't in it, but at the last minute I changed my mind.  I may regret it by the end of the month...

Looking...  forward to seeing Mama Mia! with Mom and Silas at the historic Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA.

Cracking up...  at this Reeses Egg commercial.

Reading (well, listening to)...  the audiobook Replay by Ken Grimwood.

Counting...  down the Mondays until the end of school.  SEVEN!  Yeah, I don't like counting down the days until after the Kentucky Derby.

Donating... clothes that are too big.  So far, I've donated 4 bags to charity.

Telling...  myself that I cannot keep these clothes around as a "safety net."  Sometimes letting go is tough.

Keeping...  a positive outlook, even though I've apparently hit another plateau and have only lost 1 pound in the last month.

Shopping...  for absolutely nothing.  I made it a goal to buy nothing outside of food and household  necessities during the entire month of April.

Attempting...  to drink 100+ ounces of water a day. The P.E./health teacher at work recommended I try to increase my water intake in order to help break through this plateau.  How's is going so far?  Not so good. But, I'm making a noble effort.

What have you been up to lately?

  1. A to Z Challenge has occupied my days completely since the whole of last week. Besides that I'm taking care of my son who's preparing for his board exams in high school. Loved your list of interesting things that you're up to. :)

    1. Thank you very much! Yes, the A to Z is VERY time consuming, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by!

  2. The photo is stunning! I love bees.

I need to drink more water. It really shouldn't find it this hard!

    1. Thank you! I was very pleased with the result. I didn't think it would turn out that well.

  3. I like plain club soda/sparkling water. Makes it a little easier to drink more water, especially with a squirt of lemon or lime juice.

  4. I usually hit 100 oz of water a day every day aside from Weekends.

    1. I'm in total awe and admiration. It's difficult consuming that much water when working in a public school. I think that's my issue.

  5. That's awesome that they live-streamed their wedding! My friend got remarried last May and her daughter is a Marine stationed in Japan but they face-timed the ceremony so she could feel like part of it and "be there"- I thought that was so sweet. I love that commercial!! I have a hard time remembering to drink enough water as well, good luck!

  6. That's so cool that you can live stream the wedding! Isn't technology the best? And your picture is fantastic..I can't believe you took that (and didn't get stung). Great job ;) Thanks for linking up and good luck in the blogging challenge!

    1. Yes, for all the downfalls of technology, there are moments of absolute brilliance when technology is awesome, like in this instance. The force must've been with me as I took that picture. Thank you!

  7. i am pretty awesome at drinking 100oz or more of water during the week, i have a bottle with a straw (sounds ridiculous but so much easier than tipping it up to drink like a normal bottle) and i get up every hour or so and fill it, that's my little break. that being said, i sit in front of a computer, totally different than other jobs. KC struggles because he has to teach and all that jazz. but i suck at drinking any water on the weekends. i need to be better at that. good luck on the no shopping/spending in april! i really need to do a month like that. i am doing great on my no shopping for clothes and such, but i feel like we are just hemorrhaging money lately because of the house and we really need to recover lol.

    1. I seem to do better with drinking more on weekends and when I'm off on breaks. Working with children in a school... it's not always convenient to go to the bathroom when the urge hits. Your husband and I are in the same boat. I'd say most educators probably are dehydrated Monday through Friday.

So far, the no shopping is going OK. But, I find myself making lists of things to buy in May.

I'm so happy that you guys found a house!

  8. I can't believe how crazy the weather is for y'all up there! We've had some weather go from warm to cool, but nothing like complete weather changes! Hopefully it's warming up again now! That's so exciting that y'all are going to see Mamma Mia! It's such a good show and really makes you want to stand up and dance and sing!

    1. Yep, it's been wild. It was above 60 for several days, then dipped into 40s and rained, then the next day (Friday) we had snow. Life in the mountains... LOL! Mamma Mia! was fun. I've seen it before, but my folks have not. It was fun seeing it with them.

  9. girl, i am so impressed with you. four bags of clothes that are too big! that's amazing. you're helping yourself and others at the same time. i love that feeling.

i stopped going to the gym, and so i've been at a plateau for about a month now. i don't that if i were going to the gym, i'd be losing any weight; part of me thinks i lost it was because i had a hellish case of sinusitis and wasn't eating much because of it. but maybe... i'm convinced, though, that weight loss is like eighty percent diet, and my diet's not changed that much. anyway... i understand that a plateau would be frustrating, especially when you're doing the work. you'll shatter it eventually. keep on keeping on.

    1. Thank you! It's been an interesting quest! Truth is, I had a lot of clothes that were the size I was when I started last summer and a lot of clothes in the next size down (like shorts) that I had outgrown, but still had. I am now a size smaller than the smallest size I had in clothes, so there were many items to purge. I am hoping this time around that I will be more of a minimalist and not buy so many things. I mean... I had 14 work polos, that's almost 3 weeks worth. Who needs that many polos, especially since I have a working washer and dryer in my house?

I believe, too, that weight loss is more diet than exercise, although exercise helps. It is frustrating, but I'm doing my best to stay the course and, as you said, keep on keeping on.
